Owner Don Dial (Double D) is the show at this old-school Italian and American breakfast-lunch-and-dinner joint, a favorite with regulars for 21 years. They like the ingredients: quality, quantity and personality. Don is an entertainer behind the stove and seems to know everyone on a first-name basis. He picks his vegetables fresh at the local farmers’ market, throws up a mind-boggling selection of specials and says his place is “Green as hell.” Guess that means its eco-friendly. Don claims to serve the city’s best corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick’s Day, a tall boast for an Italian restaurant in a town with plenty of Irish. Put him to the test, if you can let go of the Italian and down-home American dishes here for one day. There food to go (pick-up only) and a back room for private parties. Plus, Don caters, for those who want their guests to be full and satisfied.
