This legendary live music venue for all-ages shows features established headliners as well as new-and-emerging artists in a wide variety of genres. Sure, they showcase the ultra-hip stuff, but how about bluegrass? Plus they serve really good food to go along with the music. A prix fixe dinner ticket for $25 not only gets you into the show, it gets you into the limited-seating balcony instead of risking “standing room only” with a regular ticket. Chef José Janez, from Guadalajara, makes amazing garlic fries, nachos, molé, pozole and a chicken sandwich to die for. All the bands look forward to playing at Slim’s because of José’s just-like-home cooking. Try the special, whatever it is, usually under $10. Of course they have a full bar, where bar manager Steve Feldman has created some noteworthy cocktails, so ask. For their nightly specials, see Facebook and Twitter. Parking most nights is available at the nearby Costco at Harrison, but be sure to check how late the lot stays open.
